Holiday Traditions 2009

Friday, October 16, 2009

As we feel the cold and winds of the Fall season, we are all reminded that the Holiday Season will soon be upon us.  More than a time for presents and gifts, for me this is a time for family and traditions. As a Christian, I remember the birth of our Savior as the world's most treasured tradition. You will hear me saying "Merry Christmas" to everyone I meet, instead of the now popular greeting of "Happy Holidays"

Some of the Christmas traditions around my house I have been busy passing  down to my children and grandchildren.  With my ever busy life, sometimes I find it hard to keep them all going.  Through the years I have always enjoyed baking cookies, purchasing heart-felt gifts for family and friends, attending church services and decorating the house. As I get older these traditions become even more important and forever planted in my memory.  Most important of all are the values and virtues that I reminise about as I help to form the character of my grandchildren. I hope to be remembered as the grandmother who helped them discover the really important things in life, like love and helping others.

If you are looking for good "old-fashioned" Christmas presents this year, please check out the Avon catalogs starting with campaign 22.  We have items that are sure to please every member on your Christmas list.  Gift certificates also are easy to give and warmly accepted.  A gift basket of favorite lotions, potions, and notions are loved by female family and friends.

May this up-coming season fill your life with great anticipation and excitement.  Be sure to enjoy the little things like ...

*having a cup of hot chocolate with family and friends you haven't kept in touch with.  Reminising about old times and new adventures.

*In your alone time, think about how blessed we all are to live in this great country.

*Lending a hand to someone who needs a little extra TLC.  It might be a lonely neighbor or person in a nursing home, hospital, or sick child.

*Enjoy the pleasure of having your favorite family pet(mine is a cat) sit on your lap purring and licking you until you say that's enough.  Look into that adorable, cute face and remember only God can make such wonderful creatures for our enjoyment.

*Most important remember the reason for the Season--Blessings to you and your family from my family.   Edith

BEST BLUSH

Sunday, July 05, 2009

There are no real rules in beauty, but when it comes to blush, I advise you to choose your colors wisely. Recommended shades are found in True Color Blush.

FAIR SKIN:  Look for blushes with warm undertones like Coral Myth

MEDIUM-TONED: Go for muted tawny and rose shades. Try Rose Lustre or Antiquity; avoid anything with orangy undertones.

OLIVE SKIN: Stick with warm rosy or bronze tones. Try Classis Aura or Earthen Rose; stay away from stark contrasts like reds/oranges.

DARK SKIN: Lighter tones: try peaches like Silk, dusky pinks like Rose Lustre or bronzes like Golden Glow light/medium, Medium and Darkest tones: look at deeper shades like Russet or Cool Plum.

Asian Skin:  Lighter tones look best in soft pinks like Swoon or Silk, Medium and Dark tones should try dusky shadees like Mad about Mauve.
